Creative challenge day 09-10/31: pencil drawings

As you can tell, I became a little enamored with Singin' in the Rain after re-watching it with a friend! I found a photo of Gene Kelly online and did my best to recreate his winning smile and friendly eyes. I was proud of what I made, but I wasn't satisfied with my technique in drawing facial features. So, I sought out a drawing tutorial from ArtistsNetwork.com and set about practicing! I found seven feature-drawing lessons in one of their newsletters, and I produced this drawing of a man's eye, which I was happy with! I hope I have the tenacity to keep working at this, because I think these fundamentals will really come in handy with my artistic pursuits.
